    Examinations & Results

We were delighted with our Summer 2018 examinations results which are summarised in more detail in the ‘GCSE results 2018’ link below.

The students had to contend with all the changes and demands of the new GCSE syllabuses and the results achieved in just 3 days of academic study per week are testament to the tremendous hard work of the students and staff.

98% of Year 11 students achieved 5 or more 9-4 / A*-C passes in any subjects

80% of Year 11 students achieved 5 or more 9-4 / A*-C passes including English and Maths

49% of Year 11 students achieved 10 or more 9-4 / A*-C passes in any subjects

39% of all Year 11 entries were graded 9-7/A*-A

    Average no. of 9-4 / A*-C grades per student = 8.6

    More useful information - JCQ
JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) is the single voice covering all the exam boards that we use for our GCSEs at Sylvia Young Theatre School. We as a school must adhere to all their rules and we are inspected regularly by them to ensure that we are running all our exams and assessments in accordance with these rules.
JCQ have a website - jcq.org.uk - which has some very useful information regarding the exam process should you wish to find out more.
